Clean Sweep: OL Féminin Beat Bordeaux To Cap Three-Win Week

It was a daunting week for the French and European champions, with two games against top teams in D1 Féminine on either side of a trip to Amsterdam for a mid-week Champions League match.  But les Fenottes came through with flying colors, beating all three opponents and conceding just one goal over the week.  The final victory in the series was a 3-0 win over Bordeaux on Sunday, ensuring that Lyon remain on top of the D1F table.

Dominant Lyon Overpower Ajax

Ajax may be “stronger than grease” but they weren’t stronger than Lyon on Wednesday as OL Féminin picked up a 4-0 win in Amsterdam in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16.  The titleholders now have one foot in the quarterfinals after goals from four different players carried les Fenottes to a comfortable victory.

Golden Women and Golden Boys: Lyon has them all

So far, 2018 has been a good year for Lyon players. OL Féminin has long been recognized as the preeminent force in women’s football while OL’s Academy is perpetually ranked as one of best in Europe. Lyon’s dominance in both sectors has been rewarded with a host of nominations, with the likes of Houssem Aouar, Ada Hegerberg, Amandine Henry, and Tanguy Ndombélé getting the attention they very much deserve.

Nothing came easy on Wednesday as Lyon battled their way to a 2-0 win over Avaldsnes in the Champions League’s Round of 32.  It wasn’t the lopsided result we might have anticipated, but two second half goals mean les Fenottes have one foot in the next round after a frustrating afternoon.

Magic from Majri as Lyon Roll Past Soyaux

Amel Majri continued her torrid start to the D1 Féminine season, leading OL Féminin to a 4-0 victory over ASJ Soyaux on Saturday.  Majri followed up her two goal, two assist performance in week one over Lille with two more goals and another assist.
